Introduction Day
We are looking forward to taking off with you all for the 2026/2027 Dirty Art Department trip! What could happen? What will we see? But it ain`t no yellow brick road, and as the darkness continues, and the rise of the right, war, genocide, increasing divison, intolerance and inequality lay waste to hope, the Dirty Art Department stands again in its commitment to a blend of art, design and activism to create a 'world we would want to live in`.
As capitalism descends into suburban fascism, hope seems more like banging our heads against the wall. What other choice do we have? Push that sisyphean stone up the hill, and then why not enjoy it? Become the greatest rock´n´rollers that ever existed and meet deservedly in a mud pit of love. That mud pit can be the basis for a real and practical alternative model of economy and collectivity where the art, both individually and collectively is about that living alternative. The Dirty or Gumbo Cooperative, a hot mix stew with ingredients from everywhere. The necessary foundation that can make new attempts a possibility. Part Edoard Glissent`s* `Tout Monde`, part Albert Meister`s’** `Le Sois Dissent Utopie sur La Center Beaubourg`, part Charles Fourier`s Phalanstère ***, part Mondragon****?
